Our first MadMicrobe Philly Meetup was a huge success!
Our team recently came together in the “City of Brotherly Love” for inspiring strategy sessions, creative collaboration, and—most importantly—quality time together…
This past weekend, a big chunk of our MadMicrobe team came together in Philadelphia for our very first in-person meetup. For years we’ve built our studio largely through screens, so gathering in the City of Brotherly Love felt like more than just a meeting — it was a chance to reconnect, strategize, and simply enjoy time together as people.
We kicked things off with focused strategy sessions where we looked honestly at where we’ve come from and where we’re headed. Everyone — from our artists and animators to our project directors — had a voice in shaping our plans for 2025 and beyond. Hearing fresh ideas and different perspectives around the same table was energizing and reminded me why our work thrives on collaboration between science and creativity.
“Bringing our team together in Philadelphia reminded us that when creative minds meet face-to-face, inspiration follows and big ideas take shape.”
But we also made sure the weekend wasn’t all business. We set aside time for team-building games such as Quizzo, Left Right Center, and a dose of friendly (?) competition at an indoor miniature golf course. We hopped on a trolley tour that gave us a new appreciation for Philadelphia’s history and neighborhoods, and we made stops at Love Park< The Betsy Ross House and the Art Museum — places that capture the city’s creative and cultural spirit. Those shared experiences helped spark new conversations and new ideas in ways that a Zoom call simply can’t!
Evenings were spent around tables at some great local restaurants, where we swapped stories, laughed, and got to know each other beyond our job titles. Those moments — the unscripted ones — were every bit as valuable as the formal sessions, and they deepened the trust and camaraderie that make our team so special.
Mitch Mike and I (Joel) came away from the weekend grateful for this group of talented, passionate people and excited for what we’ll accomplish together next. Our first MadMicrobe Philly Meetup confirmed something I’ve believed from the start: when you bring creative minds together, inspiration follows. Here’s to building on that energy as we move into the next chapter of MadMicrobe!
