We’re excited to share the first of two posts introducing our newest Junior Medical Animators!
This week, we’re thrilled to welcome Hannah Koffman to the MadMicrobe team—bringing her talent, creativity, and passion for visual storytelling to our growing studio.
Hannah grew up in Chicago with a love for science and nature and discovered during her undergraduate studies that she could channel her artistic creativity into a fulfilling career.
She earned her B.S. in Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. After graduating, she worked as a scientist in a biopharmaceutical development company, gaining perspective on all sides of production. She went on to earn her M.S. in Biomedical Visualization at the University of Illinois at Chicago, where she loved exploring new animation tools and techniques. Hannah has since worked on contract and freelance projects, as well as spent a year and a half as a 3D animator at Barrow Neurological Institute, creating visuals for patient education and clinical research.
She especially enjoys experimenting with styles that evoke emotion, as well as testing new materials, simulations, and lighting approaches to bring each story to life. Guided by curiosity, she believes the best scientific stories not only explain complex science with accuracy but also evoke a sense of wonder.
Hannah is thrilled to join the MadMicrobe team and expand her knowledge alongside such a talented group of artists. Outside of work, you’ll likely find her salsa dancing, snowboarding, or off the grid in the mountains chasing sunsets with her camera.
