PART 2: Science Fun with Susie Yun
Earlier this summer, a few of our esteemed Microbes flew out to Las Vegas to attend and present at the annual Association of Medical Illustrators Conference. Senior Medical Animator/Technical Director Eric Small, Medical Animators Susie Yun, and Adam Zunder will each share their experiences in this series of three articles.
I was fortunate to participate in the remarkable AMI conference hosted in Henderson, Nevada, where the venue was nestled amidst the stunning Mojave mountains and desert, all located near the iconic Las Vegas Strip. Being an early professional attending this conference in person for the first time, I had an incredible opportunity to delve into the rich diversity of medical art and connect with a wide range of professionals.
During the conference, I had the pleasure of exploring a diverse array of captivating topics, such as medical tattoos, biomedical data visualizations, digital workflows in forensics, medical 3D printing, and the emerging discussions on artificial intelligence’s impact in the field. Additionally, the salon artworks were very inspiring, encouraging me to venture beyond my comfort zone and explore new creative possibilities.
The conference’s most unforgettable aspect was the chance to network and engage with numerous professionals from diverse industries. It was captivating to listen to the experiences of individuals ranging from freelancers to large-scale studios, as they shared insights into their diverse workflows and the nature of their work.
In conclusion, my first AMI experience surpassed all my expectations as it provided an exceptional opportunity to gain new insights and perspectives. I eagerly anticipate attending future conferences and participating in upcoming sessions and presentations. I am also thrilled to see how this newfound inspiration will shape the work I create moving forward.
